That was the original slogan on our coffee bags. And it wasn’t just clever marketing — it was a mission.
Back when Santa Martha Cafe was just taking shape, we partnered with several organizations to bring safe drinking water to the community where our coffee comes from. One of our first steps? Helping install a rainwater catchment system on the school so the kids could have clean water.
Later, with the help of other passionate folks and our co-founder, Jonathan Dodd, we supported the installation of a full pipeline bringing fresh spring water to residents in the area.
Why It Matters
Here in the U.S., we often take water — good water — for granted. We have fancy filters, treatment plants, and smart tech. Most days, it’s just a twist of the tap.
At Santa Martha Cafe, we don’t just care about what’s in your cup — we care about what goes into making it.
When we brew pour-overs at the market with our trusty Chemex, we use RO (Reverse Osmosis) water — filtered down to near-zero PPM (parts per million of dissolved solids) — and then remineralize it with alkaline goodness so your coffee sings like it should.
And because we're not fans of waste, that “bad” water byproduct? We collect it and use it to water our garden. Full circle.
So yes — life really does revolve around water. And if you’ve ever bought a bag of our coffee, you’ve been part of something bigger than caffeine. You’ve helped someone, somewhere, drink clean water too.
