Love, Coffee. and Happy Planet
What started around family, slowing down, and sharing good coffee grew into something bigger: a deeper love for the people, places, and communities behind every cup.
Our coffee journey began in Nicaragua and continues through coffees and relationships connected to Guatemala, Burundi, and Tanzania — with small-batch roasting that honors each bean’s natural flavor and growing region.
We believe great coffee should taste good, do good, and help create a Happy Planet through more honest relationships, healthier coffee communities, and trees planted in coffee-growing regions.

Relationships that begin in Nicaragua
Our coffee story is rooted in relationships that began in Nicaragua and continue to shape how we think about coffee, community, and connection.
Those relationships extend into coffees and connections tied to Nicaragua, Guatemala, Burundi, and Tanzania — keeping the story close to the regions where coffee is grown.
We believe coffee should honor origin, respect the people connected to its production, and stay connected to the communities where it begins.
Omnidegradable® coffee bags
We use packaging made with Omnidegradable® additive technology — a blend of organic compounds designed to help break down long-chain plastic molecules in the presence of microbes, allowing them to be further consumed over time.
These materials have been tested against ASTM D5511-18 for anaerobic biodegradation and ASTM D6691 for aerobic biodegradation in marine environments.
It’s one more way we try to reduce impact beyond the cup.
A Tree Story You Can Actually See
Since 2019, Santa Martha Cafe and our customers have funded trees in coffee-growing regions. The chart below uses a conservative maturity ramp model to show how that impact grows over time.
